Direct air access from Hong Kong to Ireland with Cathay Pacific has created great opportunity for Tourism Ireland to capitalise on this opportunity and increase visitor numbers from Hong Kong to the island of Ireland. Hong Kong was ranked globally as 11th in the world in tourism international expenditure with a spend of USD 26.5 bn in 2018. Visit Britain recorded that visitors from Hong Kong to the UK spend approximately £1,169, almost twice as much as the all-market average (£599). To build on these figures Tourism Ireland aims to maximise the island of Ireland’s presence in Hong Kong as a tourist destination through trade communications, co-op campaigns, digital opportunities and various trade and consumer events.
